Stanwell pipes

Stanwell, a major name in Danish pipe making:

Stanwell is a well-known name among pipe smokers. The brand was founded in Denmark in 1942 by Poul Nielsen. From the very beginning, its goal was simple: to offer high-quality pipes at an affordable price.

Over the years, Stanwell worked with several major names in Danish pipe making. Sixten Ivarsson played an important role in the development of the brand. Other artisans, such as Tom Eltang and Poul Winslow, also worked for Stanwell. These collaborations helped Stanwell become known around the world.

Stanwell pipes made in Denmark and later in Italy:

For several decades, Stanwell pipes were made in Denmark. Production then moved to Italy in 2010, where the pipes were made in the Barontini workshops. This change in production location did not alter the brand's goals. Stanwell remained committed to offering beautiful briar pipes, with carefully crafted finishes, at accessible prices.

Unfortunately, production of Stanwell pipes came to an end in 2021. The models we offer on pipe.fr are therefore among the last creations from the brand that we were able to select.

Why choose a Stanwell pipe?

A Stanwell's main strength is its excellent value for money. These pipes are made from beautiful briar and offered at attractive prices.

When it comes to shapes, the brand chose to focus exclusively on classic designs. Most Stanwell pipes therefore feature traditional silhouettes, such as the Billiard, Dublin and Bulldog. The same model may, however, be available in several finishes. A smooth Stanwell pipe highlights the grain of the briar, while a sandblasted version offers a completely different appearance.

The different Stanwell pipe collections:

Throughout its history, Stanwell created many collections. Today, some have become iconic and highly sought after by fans of the brand.

Stanwell De Luxe pipes:

The De Luxe line is one of the oldest Stanwell series. These pipes combine classic shapes with an elegant finish. They can be recognised by their brass ring at the end of the shank.

Stanwell Trio pipes:

The Trio series is easily recognisable thanks to its triple band: two aluminium rings and one acrylic ring. This combination gives these pipes a particularly elegant appearance.

Stanwell Authentic pipes:

The Authentic collection features pipes made from natural briar, free from imperfections. These light-coloured models allow you to fully appreciate the natural grain of the briar.
