Born in Cuba and now based in Spain, this master pipe maker has been creating unique pipes for more than 25 years, combining traditional craftsmanship, artistic sculpture, and contemporary creativity.

In his workshop, Rafael Arzuaga personally carries out all stages of pipe making. His wife also takes part in certain highly delicate operations, particularly polishing or complex carving work that requires great precision.

Like many craftsmen, he primarily works with briar wood, as it is perfectly suited for smoking tobacco. However, Rafael also enjoys going off the beaten path by incorporating materials such as bamboo, boxwood, palm wood, and other noble wood species into his creations. In some pieces, he goes even further by adding decorative elements made of natural stone, horn, brass, bronze, or custom-made metal inserts. All these materials give each pipe a unique character and an instantly recognizable style.

Mr. Rafael Arzuaga is an exceptional sculptor. Animals, skulls, characters, or fully custom creations... One look at his work is enough to understand that he literally transforms briar into works of art.

Some of his pipes require several weeks of work. We are therefore far from ordinary mass-produced pipes. Here, every detail is hand-carved with great precision. Rafael does not simply aim to create smoking pipes. His true goal is to "bring life" to simple pieces of briar. It is this artistic dimension that makes his pipes truly extraordinary.
