In his workshop, Rafael Arzuaga masters the entire production process. However, he delegates certain operations to his wife, particularly polishing and the most delicate sculpting work.

A smoker himself, he mainly crafts briar pipes, as it is the most suitable wood for this use. Nevertheless, the artisan also enjoys incorporating other woods such as bamboo, boxwood, or palm wood. On some creations, he goes even further by combining materials like horn, brass, bronze, or metal. All these elements result in pieces with a truly unique style.

Rafael Arzuaga is certainly one of the finest pipe sculptors in the world. Animals, faces, objects, or custom shapes: his designs go far beyond anything known in the world of pipes, to the point where briar seems to come to life.

Some of his creations require a tremendous amount of work. It can take several weeks to complete a single pipe. Every detail is hand-carved. This is therefore very far from industrial production. The goal is clear: to create a work of art.
