It can sometimes be difficult to choose the perfect accessory. That's why we're going to give you a few points to consider before buying your tobacco pouch.
The first question to ask yourself is: what do I want to carry? Just tobacco? Tobacco and my pipe? Does everything need to be together?
How should you transport your tobacco (only)?
To preserve the tobacco's aroma, it must be protected from light, heat, ambient air and humidity. Ideally, you should keep it at home in a tobacco jar and take out the amount you need when you go out, placing it in a tobacco pouch for transport.
Tobacco pouches are usually lined with a latex lining: a very thin sheet of rubber that is resistant to heat and humidity, allowing the tobacco to retain its aroma for longer.
Our small tobacco pouches and bags slip easily into any pocket without being bulky.
A little tip: don't hesitate to put a humidifier in your tobacco pouch to help keep your tobacco slightly moist.

If you wish to carry your entire tobacco package, then you will need to opt for a larger pouch that can hold both the tobacco and the accessories.
How can you carry your tobacco and accessories together?
To carry your tobacco and essential accessories, you will need a tobacco pouch designed for this purpose. You have two options:
1. Choose a tobacco pouch with an additional small pocket:
2. Choose a larger tobacco pouch with specific compartments. It will allow you to store your tobacco packet, pipe tamper, pipe cleaners, and lighter:
How can you easily carry your pipe with your tobacco and accessories?
The style varies depending on the manufacturer, but the principle remains the same. The traditional tobacco pouch for one pipe has a flap and three pockets:
- 1 large pocket with a flap for easy access to the tobacco
- 1 zipped pocket under the tobacco pouch for storing the pipe
- 1 small zipped pocket at the back for accessories
At La Pipe Rit, we particularly recommend models equipped with a magnetic snap fastener. So much more practical!

Of course, if you own several pipes, there are larger cases available. Their size varies mainly according to the number of pipes to be stored. Claudio Albieri cases, for example, can hold up to four pipes!

What size should I choose for my tobacco pouch?
If you have any doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can test it in our shop to confirm whether or not your pipe(s) will fit in the pouch of your choice. Nothing is more effective than a proper check!
Are there any tobacco pouches made in France?
Generally speaking, products made in France are marked with a logo on our online shop:

As for tobacco pouches and pipe kits, you will find this logo on our Eole products, which are entirely manufactured in France, in the Jura region, by Charlotte Charbonnier (feel free to watch the video, it's a real pleasure to see her at work!).
What material is my tobacco pouch made of?
Traditionally, tobacco pouches are made of genuine leather (indicated by a logo). However, for ethical reasons, new materials are also used (such as fabric for Eole brand pouches).
Depending on the materials used, pouches and kits will not have the same density or rigidity. Once again, please do not hesitate to contact us for our impressions of these items, as these nuances are difficult to convey with measurements (even though we indicate the weight in our product descriptions).
How much does a tobacco pouch cost?
From basic to high-end, there is something for every budget. The price varies depending on all the factors mentioned above: the size of the pouch and the number of pockets or compartments, the materials, and the brand. However, the price mainly varies depending on the type of manufacture: artisanal or industrial, and depending on the place of manufacture: Europe or elsewhere. Thus, tobacco pouches made in Italy or France will be more expensive, but as the saying goes, "You forget the price, but you remember the quality".
So, we have covered everything that needs to be considered when making an informed choice about a transport item. One last point, however: a pouch must be practical to use. With this in mind, it may be useful to have several different types of pouches depending on how and when you need them: a small one for everyday use, a larger one for travelling, etc. Now it's up to you!
